Jerrod Kamau Williams
Cinematographer | Photographer
I got into the field of visual arts at the age of 18, as a dancer & model. At 21, I became curious about what life was like on the other side of the camera and decided to get my own. Since then, creating imagery and capturing various aspects of life through the lens has become one of my greatest passions. I started with photography and now do primarily video work. With years of experience, I’ve created an array of content. Narrative and documentary cinematography are my absolute favorites.
The story behind EoK — “Eye of Kamau”
As you may have seen, Kamau is my middle name; it means Quiet Warrior. This is a name that I have been an embodiment of long before I was aware of its meaning. As I experienced more of life, I grew to realize how special it is and my connection to it. With this being a connection that is beyond a “name,” I made sure it was the same case with my work. EoK doesn’t just represent the expression of my vision as an artist… it is an extension of my way of being… The Way of Kamau; the warrior that puts service-to-others before service-to-self and lives for the betterment & good of the world. The one who seeks to grow, learn and be the best they can be regardless of the circumstances — all while doing it quietly, devoid of smug, expectations of recognition, or rewards in return. It is a way of life that anyone can embody. It is about more than myself and is incorporated into every aspect of my life.
